The cannabis industry will require an increased workforce and this school aims to train it
The Essential Facts:
The Cleveland School of Cannabis (CSC) opened in 2017.
An estimated 4,000 jobs will need filled in the cannabis industry in 2024.
Ohio has licensed more than 70 new dispensaries this year.
At CSC, students learn skills that translate into the workforce, such as cultivating, marketing and medicinal science.
While CSC has been certified by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, marijuana is still classified as a Schedule 1 substance on the federal level, she said. This has made it hard for CSC and schools like it to secure banking or large financial backing.
Despite these hurdles, Fenix said they’re still making sure students see success after graduation.
