500 MG Pour Up Syrup by Lepow Extracts

Product: LePow Extracts 500 MG Syrup (Created by and available @ColoradoKindMeds)

Taste: The syrup by itself doesn’t taste bad, it’s not intense like robitussin or cough syrup, but more like syrup-toppers for food that would go on top of a baked muffin or something. I definitely still preferred it being mixed with a soda (lemon lime for me), as the budtender recommended. The second time I tried mixing the syrup with fruit juice (grape), as soda wasn’t ideal before a bike ride, but I think that caused a pretty intense reaction in my stomach in the latter hours, so I wouldn’t recommend repeating that.

Effects: The entire reason behind making this a 2 part review was because I generally notice two primary use cases among people who use edibles. Those who like to smoke while doing edibles, and those who like to indulge in edibles all by themselves. I happen to be a person who likes to dabble in both depending on the occasion.

USE CASE 1 (WHILE SMOKING): It was a Saturday night with family in town (and my family likes to smoke), so my plan was to take about 70mg to accentuate the high we’ll get from smoking. The budtender said each cap full is about 35mg (if you’re not a habitual smoker like me, 10mg is the recommended starting point, so be careful here). All I was tasked for this particular Saturday evening was enjoying family and watching basketball. Immediately after having the syrup/soda mix, I started smoking rather heavily (2 joints an hour is a solid family smoke session estimate). I can normally chain smoke some great strains with the best of them, but I know the edible is working when I feel I’ve hit an immovable wall. I hit that wall about an hour and a half in. I was watching the Lakers game, and it suddenly became difficult to function in any capacity. I tried to play some video games after basketball was over, but fell asleep with the controller in my hand before I remember playing anything. This is the type of all out sedation I personally seek when accenting edibles with smoking, so this was a major win in my book for 70mg in this case.

USE CASE 2 (SYRUP ONLY, NO SMOKING): Entirely different situation from the first use case, as this was a Tuesday evening, my wife and I had been working most of the day, hadn’t smoked at all, and now wanted to go on a relaxing bike ride before bed. My wife took 35mg, as she’s a semi-regular smoker, and I took approximately the remaining 100mg that were left. As we began our journey on the high line canal trail, it felt like it was taking a while for the edibles to kick in, as they normally do. Although, if you’re physically active the reaction in your bloodstream may be accelerated. In my experience, it didn’t take an unusual amount of time for the syrup to hit me, but I felt like once it did, it hit me with an amplified level of intensity. My wife even asked me a third of the way through the bikeride if I felt anything yet, and I had only felt some vertigo while in motion, but once we reached the halfway point at the park, I felt my body high coming on, and knew it was time to turn around. I also think just stopping gave us the opportunity to actually feel what was happening. As we neared home, I was feeling increasingly sedated, and peddling became a REAL task. I was solely thinking about our couch at home for the last 20 minutes. Once we got back, we showered and passed out pretty quickly. Perhaps I would shorten the bike ride knowing the timing of this syrup now, but it was a blast of an experience regardless.

Overall: If you normally enjoy thicker liquid based edibles like tinctures or syrup in particular, I’d definitely recommended giving this 500mg LePow bottle a try from @coloradokindmeds. I mostly enjoyed the flavor of the syrup, and the effects can be diverse depending on how you choose to use it. The one thing I’d say to avoid for sure, is taking this with fruit juice. That combo didn’t agree with my stomach the next day.
