Strain: A5 Wagyu
How it’s marketed: Indica
Genetics: Downshift x Candy Cake
Aroma (in jar and ground up): The presence of the cake lineage is heavy on the initial nose, as it has that baked goods aroma. There’s a hint of funky influence from the downshift as well. Upon grinding, the aroma becomes sweeter.
Taste: Greasy, gassy, umami. The exhale gives off a faint sense of the cake.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Moderately harsh, will definitely feel the pressure if smoking alone
Medical or Recreational: Recreational
THC percentage: 26.78
Effects: A few puffs in I got a quick headrush. As it set in, I felt moderate sedation and a body high. Calm and relaxed throughout.
Overall: For my tastes, Green Dot Labs has been consistent in releasing high-quality flower since doing so regularly in 2022. In my opinion, the cures are usually on point, and the flavors are largely as advertised.
This batch of A5 Wagyu was no exception. At first, I wasn’t as keen on the flavor profile, but I found letting it sit around for a while helped it develop more richness in the savory/umami direction. The high was the greatest delight of the A5, as it set in relatively quickly, and gave a heavy punch at its peak. I’d put the A5 in the occasional evening and weekend rotation. Nice work from the team at Greendot Labs.
