Bio Jesus By Cresco (Chicago, Illinois)

Updated: Dec 31, 2022

Strain: Bio Jesus Indica/Sativa/Hybrid: Indica Dominant Hybrid Genetics: Bio-Diesel x Gumbo (Widely speculative, as this strain has seen many cuts, but this seems to be the genetics most widely reported for Cresco). Aroma (in jar and ground up): The aroma from the jar was very pleasant, like sweet sage with a touch of gas. Upon grinding, the diesel becomes more pronounced. Taste: Mostly earthy, a little sour. Kept thinking I was going to get more diesel flavor, but never shined through. How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Moderately Harsh Medical or Recreational: Recreational THC percentage: 23.92 Effects: A little heavy behind the eyes. Difficult to focus, pretty scatter-brained throughout the experience. I smoked this before heading to the airport for our flight out of Chicago, and I believe this strain helped me leave my charger in the rental. Smoking it back in Colorado, I still felt the same, as I was heavily indecisive and lacked focus. Overall: I specifically asked the budtender @shopmedmen for a popular strain based in Chicago that I won’t readily find in Colorado. He told me @CrescoCannabis / @CrescoLabs had headquarters there, and Bio Jesus sells out frequently, so that led to my decision. @CannabisMarketer_ also informed me that Cresco has locations in the Ohio area as well, along with other imprints around the country. MedMen is also a national cannabis retailer for the record. As far as this batch of Bio Jesus goes, the flower is pretty solid, but wouldn’t make my rotation with any of my Colorado selections. If I had gotten this strain as more of a value selection in Colorado, I wouldn’t be mad, as the high was slightly above average, and the flavor was very average at best, nothing I would seek out again in all honesty. That was FAR from the case in Chicago though, as they charged and taxed the hell out of me there. I feel ashamed that I had to pay over 80 BUCKS out the door for this flower. The packaging looks elegant, but I’d trade it for a better price point in essential packaging any day. Chicago’s cannabis scene can't even begin to compare to Colorado in every way imaginable. They have A LONG WAY to go, but firstly they need to make the legal market more tantalizing and accessible than the black market. The process at the dispensary was more drawn out than necessary, and I still never got to preview the flower before buying. It’s hard enough we can’t smell it right now, at least let me see it. Have you had an experience with cannabis in Chicago? Let me know in the comments!
