Strain: Black Diamonds
How it’s marketed: Hybrid
Genetics: Black Berry x Diamond OG
Aroma (in jar and ground up): Floral and sugar cane from the jar. Upon grinding, the anticipated blackberry aroma comes out strong.
Taste: Berry-like as expected, especially when I first got the pack. I smoked the last of it about 2 months after the purchase and the flavor became more gassy and pungent.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Mostly smooth
Medical or Recreational: Recreational
THC percentage: 30.20
Effects: On the heavier side. At night, it’s enough to take you to bed, but in the day it can provide a smooth, functional body high with a touch of cerebral influence.
Overall: The first time I heard of the strain Black Diamonds, it was during an interview I was conducting with a high-quality genetics company. When reminiscing about their journeys to find seeds, they recalled an instance where they were introduced to Black Diamonds on the black market. Equipped with only enough money to buy a zip, he still regrets the missed opportunity to stack up on that cut.
Fast forward to 2023, and Black Diamonds is the reigning champion for the Emerald Cup in California, which celebrates the best legal cannabis products in the state. This cut I had from the Los Angeles Traditional team does the genetics justice. The blackberry flavor was strong upon first getting the pack, and I cherished every opportunity to consume it. I also appreciated the versatility of use for relaxation purposes. I don’t think you can go wrong with this batch of Black Diamonds from Los Angeles Traditional. If you’re able to buy it at Elevate Cannabis Company like I was, you can save 30 percent on the first purchase. I’m definitely putting this version of Black Diamonds in the California rotation.
