Strain: Gelato Cake
How it’s marketed: Indica
Genetics: Wedding Cake x Gelato 33
Aroma (in jar and ground up): From the jar it has that classic cake essence, as it’s like a sugary baked good. Also has a pungent/zesty edge to it. Gets sharper and leans more pungent upon grinding.
Taste: Starts out favoring wedding cake (sweet baked goods), then fades into some highlights of gelato.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth
Medical or Recreational: Recreational
THC percentage: 21.1 - 26.3
Effects: Laid back, not slumped just relaxed. Euphoric throughout.
Overall: Within the trenches of the Colorado Cannabis community, flower grown by corporate, franchisee-level companies carries a negative stigma. Most times that’s warranted just solely based on logistics of corporate interests versus the best possible product for the consumer often being at odds. Light Shade would fit the description of corporate-level cannabis, but surprisingly, I didn’t mind their cut of Gelato Cake.
Lured into the Aurora Light Shade store by a deal for a one dollar quarter of Locol Love flower with a $20 purchase, I decided to fulfill that $20 quota with this batch of Gelato Cake. These genetics aren’t particularly unique, but the execution was very solid in this case. Ideally, I’d like this strain to be heavier, but otherwise it met expectations. Although I acknowledge this as a commendable effort, I don’t foresee this cut making the rotation.
