Strain: GMOChi
How it’s marketed: Hybrid
Genetics: GMO x Mochi
Aroma (in jar and ground up): From the jar, it completely favors Mochi, as the thin mint cookie lineage is strong on the nose. Upon grinding, the GMO influence explodes, reeking of pungent garlic.Â
Taste: Grease and dieselÂ
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth
Medical or Recreational: Medical
THC percentage: 26
Effects: Focused, relaxed and upbeat mood to start, but then sedation creeps in as more consumption takes place. Later at night, it was hard staying awake with this cut. Â
Overall: In previous reviews, I've praised Kind Meds medical dispensary on Santa Fe Drive for a unique selection of low-key brands and grow teams you won’t commonly find at other shops. In 2025, that’s still true. I was lucky to find this cut of GMOChi (pronounced G-M-O-Chee) grown by Viola during my last trip.
Obviously, Viola has had a substantial presence in the concentrates market for years, and the brand was born in Colorado in 2011, before expanding to other markets over the years, but throughout my years of shopping, I hadn’t stumbled upon their flower. According to Weed Maps as of this writing, Life Flower Dispensary is the only other shop in Colorado carrying Viola Flower. In both cases, it’s only available on the medical side.
As for this cut of GMOChi, I was highly satisfied. It feels like the team gave the plant plenty of time to mature, sporting exceedingly long pistils on every bud. The buds themselves were some of the largest, best structured I’ve had in the legal market in a while.  If this cut is any indication of the norm, I’m excited to try more selections from Viola going forward. I’m putting Viola’s GMOChi in my evening and late night rotation if I continue to see it around.
