Strain: Granddaddy Purple (GDP)
Indica/Sativa/Hybrid: Indica-Dominant Hybrid
Genetics: Purple Urkle x Big Bud
Aroma (in jar and ground up): From the bag it has a subtle floral aroma, a bit sour and earthy. Upon breaking down it gains a spoiled fruit like stench, but after fully grinding becomes much brighter with pine and a touch of citrus.
Taste: A slightly muted grape bubble tape flavor (grape bubblegum for those unfamiliar). More earthy and woody on the backend.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Very smooth
Medical or Recreational: Recreational
THC percentage: 21.98
Effects: Calming, relaxed, smooth in operations. Creeper, as moderate sedation sets in after around 15 minutes or so. Body high remains long afterwards; will feel a little stuck.
Overall: Granddaddy Purp (Often GDP for short) is one of the most famous strains in the world, and it’s origins trace back nearly 2 decades. It’s hard to find a true quality batch of GDP in Colorado in 2021, so when Malek’s Premium Cannabis announced the drop, it sparked some excitement around the city.
I can honestly say I was not disappointed by this drop at all. It captured everything I look for in a classic batch of GDP, and the effects were especially dialed in. If I could enhance one thing, I would maybe prefer for the flavor to be a tad sweeter throughout, but that’s just splitting hairs. Smoking this with my dad for Father’s Day was a great way to start the morning on a wave of relaxation. This cut from Malek’s can definitely make the evening and weekend relaxation rotation.
