Grapple Pie By Pruf Cultivar (Portland, Oregon)

Close-up of a Grapple Pie cannabis bud with visible trichomes on a white background, creating a natural and earthy feel.

Strain: Grapple Pie

How it’s marketed: Indica

Genetics: Apple Fritter x Grape Gasoline

Aroma (in jar and ground up): From the jar, it leads with the grape gas aroma, exactly as described. Upon grinding, it takes on a heavier gas and OG aroma.

Taste: Leans heavy into the grape gas flavor profile. Strong presence on the palate that feels, but doesn’t taste, like menthol or cinnamon.

How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth

Medical or Recreational: Recreational

THC percentage: 33.4

Effects: Relaxing and euphoric. Some phases of brain lock and indecisiveness. Moderate sedation that works well for a wake and bake to ease into the day (as long as you don’t have to work).

Overall: Pruf Cultivar impressed me while being in Portland, Oregon. This company ended up having my 2 favorite pickups in the city, with their cut of Melon Pop, and this cut of Grapple Pie. Each one delivered on the advertised, expected flavors, while the effects packed a punch, but weren’t debilitating. On their website, they mention being led by terpenes, as they believe those create the richness of flavor and experience, but the site hasn’t been updated with the terpene profile for this strain.

The Apple Fritter didn’t have a pronounced presence in this cross, but the way it hits the palate is almost identical. Every attribute comes together to make this version of Grapple Pie a standout experience, and for that reason, I’d certainly put this in the PNW rotation when I find myself in the region. Excellent work from Pruf Cultivar.
