Strain: Layer Cake
How it’s marketed: Indica
Genetics: Wedding Cake x (GMO x Triangle Kush Skunk)
Aroma (in jar and ground up): Straight gas from the jar, and upon grinding the presence of GMO explodes.
Taste: Gas and that signature sweet baked goods flavor associated with cookies/wedding cake.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth
Medical or Recreational: Medical
THC percentage: 27
Effects: Relaxed, absent of anxiousness, mild sedation sets in after 10-15 minutes, but nothing overwhelming. Keeping clarity of mind.
Overall: Kaya Cannabis continues to be a reliable option for quality buds at an exceptional price point. I also appreciate the consistency of their offerings, as they don’t chase the most popular genetics, but maintain a library of strains that has helped build a loyal consumer base. Wedding Cake and its associated off-spring strains have become ubiquitous in the legal marketplace. The same thing can be said for GMO. These two coming together is like the Smith’s marrying the Jones’.
With that said, there’s nothing groundbreaking or unique about this cut, but it’s a very solid execution combining two of the most popular and accessible strains around. If you like both parent strains separately, this should be worth a try. Personally, I’m at a point where I’m seeking something different from the norm, and for that reason only, I won’t be putting this cut of Layer Cake in the rotation. It’s a quality option, but Kaya has other, more unique offerings that I’ll continue to support instead.
