Lionlato By Kind Meds

Strain: Lionlato

How it’s marketed: Indica

Genetics: Gelatti x Gelato 41

Aroma (in jar and ground up): Subtle sweetness akin to cane sugar from the bag, favoring the classic cookies contained in the lineage of genetics. Upon grinding, the sweetness becomes more pronounced with a pungent/zesty edge.

Taste: Baked goods, vanilla, sour at times. Leans into the classic cookies profile contained in the lineage.

How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth

Medical or Recreational: Medical

THC percentage: 25

Effects: Relaxed, moderate sedation and body high when consumed later in the day or night. When consuming earlier in the day, I felt more functional and focused, but still calm and serene. A little goes a long way with this one.

Overall: Kind Meds has long remained a go-to dispensary for me in Denver. One of the biggest reasons - they always have unique offerings I can’t find anywhere else in Colorado. That’s where the story of this Lionlato begins.

Through a partnering grow in Boulder, Kind Meds facilitated a relationship to carry this strain bred by Span Lion genetics (hence the “Lion” in “Lionlato”). Gelato permeates throughout the lineage of this strain as it’s directly crossed with Gelato 41, Gelatti - which contains gelato and biscotti, and Biscotti contains Gelato 25. In most of my experiences with Gelato itself, the Sunset Sherbert side of the lineage sticks out flavor wise, as I associate Gelato with a more tropical fruit flavor. In this cross though, it almost exclusively favors the Thin Mint Cookies.

All in all, Lionlato proves to be a versatile strain based on my impressions from this cut. The high is particularly dependent on your circumstances, but can lean more heavy or balanced accordingly. The flavor essentially embodies classic Thin Mint Cookies, and I’m personally fine with that, although it’s not a flavor profile I personally seek out, so to each their own. I liked this cut of Lionlato and wouldn’t be opposed to picking it up again, but I’m more interested in trying additional genetics bred by Span Lion. Great collaborative effort from Kind Meds and Span Lion.
