Pink Froot By Greendot Labs

Close-up of a green and orange Pink Froot cannabis bud against a plain white background, showcasing its texture and detailed surface patterns.

Strain: Pink Froot

How it’s marketed: Hybrid

Genetics: Point Break x Soul Cleanser

Aroma (in jar and ground up): Reeks of grapefruit from the jar and the nose leans toward soul cleanser. Upon grinding, the lineage of the Point Break comes through with traces of sweet tropicana cookies.

Taste: Primarily tastes like grapefruit. Citrus with a touch of sweet.

How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth

Medical or Recreational: Recreational

THC percentage: 17.36

Effects: Relaxed, easy-going high with a touch of brain lock. Slightly enhanced mood. Found it good for casual entertainment.

Overall: Green Dot Labs continues to put out consistent quality, but it hasn’t come without growing critical feedback. Browsing around local forums, many Colorado consumers still like GDL, but may be questioning the luxury-level price point that was once not a question. Their Google search trends are down year over year, and haven’t been as popular since October 2023. Some may point the finger toward a reported lighting change in their grow operation, while others may point to recent expansions in other states. There’s also macro-economic factors causing price drops across the industry due to the increased trend of limited discretionary income. In any event, the brand will have to continue to evolve its position in the Colorado market. Their strong track record suggests they’ll bounce back stronger.

This cut of Pink Froot provided the attributes as advertised with its tropical, citrus fruit essence, but it’s not something I’d readily return to. Compared to most Green Dot offerings, these flavor and effect attributes are easily attainable from other cultivars at friendlier price points. Of all the “Froot” strains from GDL, this one was my least favorite and the least unique in my opinion, but to be clear, it was still very solid. There’s many other offerings that came from Green Dot in 2024 that’ll be in the rotation again, but Pink Froot isn’t one of them at this juncture.
