Strain: Purple Froot
How it’s marketed: Hybrid
Genetics: Blu Froot x Sticky Grapes
Aroma (in jar and ground up): Sweet and floral like jasmine. Packaging mentions sangria, and that’s pretty accurate in this case, especially a berry-based sangria. Upon grinding, the grape influence emerges, and it reminds me of grape tape bubble gum.
Taste: Grape candy with floral hints, has remnants of Grandaddy Purple flavor. At times, the Blu Froot influence comes through with blueberry highlights.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth
Medical or Recreational: Medical and Recreational
THC percentage: 24.35
Effects: First time I tried the Purple Froot, it hit me heavier than expected compared to my experience with Blu Froot. I felt a moderate body high and heavy sedation. As I got a little more adjusted to it, I felt more general relaxation and euphoria, but still a healthy amount of sedation.
Overall: Similar to its predecessor, BluFroot, Purple Froot was as hyped a cannabis release as there’s been in Colorado in 2023. To find it a day after release day was a blessing, both in flower and concentrate form. I was fortunate enough to find mine on day 2, but had to travel from Aurora to Littleton to do so (about 20 miles for those unfamiliar). After trying it the first time, I felt the quest was well worth it. The high was consistently substantial, but not overwhelming, and the flavor was top notch. Compared to the Blu Froot, I’m not sure the Purple Froot reached the same heights flavor wise, but it superceded it effects wise in my opinion. For all of these reasons, Greendot Labs lands another strain I’d like to keep in the rotation on each release. If you’re a budget shopper, and rarely purchase premium-priced options, this would be one to splurge on.
