Strain: Red Bullz
How it’s marketed: Hybrid
Genetics: Grape Gasoline x White Runtz
Aroma (in jar and ground up): From the bag it has a subdued sugary aroma, like sugar water. Smell awakens much more after grinding, becoming sweeter like candy.
Taste: Sugary and a bit fruity, but flavor dissipates throughout.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Moderately harsh
Medical or Recreational: Recreational
THC percentage: 23.8
Effects: Starts out relaxing, then progresses to slightly upbeat and even-keeled.
Overall: Veritas has been through a rollercoaster of triumphs and challenges over the last 3 years. From the highs of being the featured name brand grower of Cookies in Colorado, to the lows of embarrassing quality control issues, ultimately leading to a severance of the Cookies relationship, and eroded trust amongst consumers within the Colorado cannabis market. This collaboration with Compound Genetics marks a spark of positive momentum the brand hasn’t experienced in a while.
To address this batch of Red Bullz directly, I felt it was solid, but offered nothing that would make me revisit it. The flavor was interesting at times, and it had flashes of the energy drink sharing the same name, but didn’t reach that next level of execution. Same can be said for the effects, as they remained mostly even-keeled, and didn’t exude any expressive traits of energy or fatigue. I’d be interested to try other strains bred by Compound Genetics, and cultivated by a variety of different teams. For those reasons, this cut of Red Bullz doesn’t quite make the rotation, but a solid job from everyone involved.
