Red Delicious #4 By Bloom County

Strain: Red Delicious 4

Indica/Sativa/Hybrid: Hybrid

Genetics: Apple Fritter x Gelato 41

Aroma (in jar and ground up): Before breaking it down it’s slightly peppery with some hints of sweetness, a little funk. Upon grinding the aroma becomes much louder, dominated by a manure-like sensation.

Taste: Getting a heavy reminder of the apple fritter genetics in this batch, as the cinnamon apple bread is shining, except with a little more spice. It’s harder to feel the presence of the gelato in this pheno, but I do think it’s making it a little more sour.

How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Moderately harsh.

Medical or Recreational: Medical (available recreationally too).

THC percentage: 23.1

Effects: Feeling a subtle wave of sedation in the head and body. Zoning in and out, very relaxed. Smoked some in the afternoon following work and felt euphoric and content. It was the perfect wind down to lead into the evening.

Overall: Bloom County has something special with this Red Delicious 4. The effects fulfilled the potential of what I’d find in an ideal hybrid strain for day to day use, especially after work or a long day in general. It walks a fine line of being even-keeled, but creeping into a level of heaviness that can be felt, but won’t overwhelm or fatigue. Mentally it put me into the perfect zone of focus, relaxation, and a level of euphoria to make me feel thankful and grateful. The flavor was really good, but I’d like to acknowledge that I also tried Red Delicious 2 (second video below), and I think this pheno nailed the expected flavor just right, as it inherited a little more sweet citrus from the gelato. I’d like to try some of the numerous other available phenos to see if any of them seamlessly synthesize best effects and flavor, but Red Delicious 4 is pretty close to ideal as is. This strain will most certainly make a return to my rotation if available!
