Yahemi: Snaxland Colorado Vs. Snaxland Oklahoma

Updated: Nov 19, 2022

Strain: Ya Hemi (Snaxland Oklahoma City) Vs. Snaxland Colorado)

Indica/Sativa/Hybrid: Indica-Dominant Hybrid

Genetics: Melonatta x Project 4516

Aroma (in jar and ground up): OKC - Herbs, diesel, and mint hit the nose from the bag. Largely the same upon grinding.

CO - From the bag it has a subtly sweet cane sugar aroma. Upon grinding it gains a pungent funk to accent the sweetness.

Taste: OKC - Can definitely taste the melon influence from the Melonatta in this batch. Sweet watermelon with hints of diesel and earthiness.

CO - Melonatta is present in this cut as well, but I’m sensing more of a sugar and vanilla profile in this version. Some grease and gas on the backend.

How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): OKC - Very smooth | CO - Moderately harsh, some lung pressure and coughing

Medical or Recreational: Recreational

THC percentage: OKC - 23 | CO - 21.23

Effects: OKC - Mild sedation with a mellow wave over the body, relaxation, maintaining clarity and focus. Hit me behind the eyes after a few minutes, but still operated smoothly.

CO - Moderate to heavy sedation as it takes a little longer to set in, mild fatigue, zoning in and out, joyful, humorous. Body felt pretty stuck late at night.

Overall: Snaxland was established in Colorado in 2016, and Oklahoma in 2019 according to their own reports. Early to mid 2020 seems to be when Snaxland took a major leap into the consciousness of Colorado cannabis consumers. That’s when I started seeing their strains pop up in published reviews in publications such as Denver Westword, along with a feature article about premium cannabis brands in July 2020. In Oklahoma, Snaxland is an entirely new brand trying to establish some of the same notoriety the Colorado branch of the company receives.

When directly comparing these two grows for the same strain, I want to first say both were adequate, presented unique qualities, and didn’t have any major detriments (with the exception of the potential synthetic PGRs (Plant Growth Retardants) in the OKC batch. PGRs can also be produced naturally, so I'll reserve judgement for now.

With that being said, I did find myself with a clear preference between the two versions. Snaxland Colorado’s version left a more notable experience on the palate with a slightly more robust flavor profile, but I will say I may have even preferred OKC’s version that had the melon flavors dialed in to a high degree.

The biggest distinguishing factor was the effects though, as in my experience, Colorado boasted the heavier version of the Yahemi, which is what I was looking for in this strain. I consistently felt more sensation in the mind and body to get that sedated relaxation that’s great for late nights, while OKC’s version was more suited for mid-day activity with more moderate calmness and relaxation. In conclusion, I’d clearly put Snaxland Colorado’s Yahemi in the late night or weekend relaxation rotation, and Snaxland OKC’s version is on the bubble, and can make the rotation once the effects get dialed in a little further. Great job and effort by both teams, but I got the home team this round. I look forward to doing this again in the future.
