Genetics: Zaza x Blackberry Octane
Aroma (in jar and ground up): From the bag, I got a hint of molasses and undertones of menthol with some funk to it. Upon grinding, smell actually became less pronounced.
Taste: First time I pulled it, I got reminded of a cured tobacco, like if you’ve ever had a cognac dipped cigar, but it also has slightly sweeter highlights of licorice, which would indicate the presence of the terpene anethole.
How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Moderately harsh
Medical or Recreational: Recreational
THC percentage: 26.6
Effects: When I consumed this ZaBerry, I had light effects of a head high, was a little uplifted, and felt positive/optimistic. I was never overly lethargic or energetic any time I smoked this.
Overall: This was my first experience with any flower or products from Za.Packs and my first experience with anything crossed with Zaza. I can’t honestly say I was overly impressed with this batch of ZaBerry Octane, as I never experienced any signature redeeming attributes. I had some light effects here and there as mentioned above, but for this tier and price point in the Colorado market, I expect something special. I liked the hints of licorice in the taste, so that would be my most redeeming quality.
I know this is a young and developing company who just had one of their first major launches, so there’s plenty of room for these guys to learn, grow, and elevate to a new level, and I’ll be looking to give them another try in the future. This batch of ZaBerry Octane doesn’t make the rotation for my preferences though.
Beyond the flower itself, one of my big pet peeves is when a company has a disjointed digital presence, and when I try to go to the website listed on both their packages and the link in their Instagram bio, it asks for a conspicuous password and then fails to load. In this day and age this is a quick way to lose faith in your brand. I would have loved to get some quality information about the company or their offerings to share it for this forum, but that simply wasn’t available anywhere they listed, so hopefully this can change as they grow as well.
